Nerd Alert #33

Piratebay.org is shut down shocker!

Proof that even the Swedes have copyright law.

Wow! That is amazing. Piratebay was particularly notorious for its mocking of all threats of litigation.

Wired fails to explain the justification for the raiding under Swedish law. The website says "assisting breach of copy-right law" which is perfectly vague.

I am curious to see what the fall-out of this is going to be.

My favorite post to the PiratbyrÄn blog:

"fascism sucks!"

I never could find anything I was actually looking for on that site anyway.

What would you guys say is the best torrent site to find rare music?

ROFL.

I think you are S.O.L. Goldsmith.

The torrents that traffic in rare music usually have an invitation only policy and require a minimum share ratio.

And they usually like indie rock! That shit is busted!

NARC!!!!

Also, Logan speaks the truth. Torrents are notoriously bad for finding anything even remotely rare. Heck, sometimes you can't find stuff you'd think is "mainstream." Think of torrents as being pop cultures short term memory.

Well, that was fast. After what... three days, Piratebay is up and running again.

I heard that if Sweden successfully cracked down on 'assiting breach of copy-right law' they were just going to move their servers to Mother Russia.

[ed: insert 'in mother russia (noun) (verb) (pronoun)' joke plz]

That was pretty fast. Go figure... perhaps if Russia doesn't work out they can set a course for Hidden Pirate Island.

And yes, I mean Hong Kong.
