Speaking of trends and the PS3, how about the fact that Sony has now lost 3.3 billion dollars on the systems.
That sounds like sound economic planning!
Is anybody making money on gaming hardware?
(non-snarky question, i honestly don't know)
Nintendo. But they always make money on hardware. The Wii and DS have both been profitable since day one. And have actually gotten more and more profitable since they haven't had to cut the prices.
Also, the Xbox 360 was profitable if you're just looking at hardware sales. But then they had that whole extend warranty business (because, you know, the 360 is a POS) which pushed it back in the red.
