It's based on a Neil Gaiman novella. It has received good reviews. And it is in 3-D!
More importantly, I had a friend who worked on it and it would be really good for him and the entire Portland economy (Laika is based in Tualatin) for this movie to have a successful opening weekend.

I was sold on Coraline, until you told me seeing it would be keeping your hippie friends in patchouli oil.
But don't worry. I think your friends are safe from this recession Nancy Pelosi started. We tried to see Coraline this afternoon, and it was sold out.
It has been sold out here as well, but it only managed to place 3rd in the weekend box office receipts behind He's Just Not Into You [wretch!] and Push [double wretch!].
I wonder if special 3D runs of movies end up cannibalizing sales - like even though there were theaters that were showing the film, we are holding out for the googles.
I don't know if anybody will read down this far, but Coraline was really awesome.
