It is a little curious that most of the albums that came to mind (or that reminded me of you when I saw them), were from your listening habits circa Summer 2001.
I can't decide if that is because the summer of 2001 was when I began aggressively paying attention to more music, or if that was the beginning of the end of the CD as a format -- meaning that we no longer traded CDs or they were no longer physical objects used at parties or left on the dashboards of cars.

Maybe it is a little bit of both.
I like this post.
It is interesting that the album cover has gone from vinyl LP size, to CD size to itunes bottom left corner size/ipod screen size.
And as they've gotten smaller they mean less and less to me. I think it's probably the second of your two explanations.
