The No Phone Rule

New fact: some clubs will not allow you to take your phone into a concert because your phone is a “recording device.” But they won't post a sign or tell you this until you wait in line for at least 40 minutes.

Which means you may not be able to see much of the Shout Out Louds, if you go to a concert that they play with Interpol and The Liars, because you have to walk back to your car at the Gateway three blocks away.

This rule may not be horrible, because the kids who’d call their friends and hold up their phones the entire show are no longer able to irritate you. But you would have preferred to know before you stood in line for 40 minutes waiting to get to see the Shout Out Louds, whom you’ll only get to hear play two songs.

And even though Interpol is pretty okay, you'll probably be irritated because of the phone thing and because you have to wait for another two-and-a-half hours inside the club after the Shout Out Louds and before Interpol. And through a terrible, stupid, band that doesn’t play songs as much as music they accompany with random noises.

I will soon be going to lots of shows at the Depot. Rachel turns 21 on the 21st of April. (There have been a half dozen bands there that I wanted to see.)

Interpol played at the Venue? Weren't they supposed to be rocking the McKay Events Center? Looks like the Interpol Tour Manager got a little carried away with planning... they are practingly giving away tickets here.

In The Venue is a pain in the ass... there is were The Faint had to play two shows because they oversold the venue.

The Depot is ight. The stage layout can occasionally disrupt natural crowd dynamics though (ie. it is easy for people to hover in the wings).

It's true. They moved the show from McKay Events to In The Venue, cut ticket prices and even offer deep discount tickets at one point. (I only paid $26 total for our two tickets.)

You wonder why their tour manager would think that the crowds for a weak album would increase from their old crowds.

Okay, pot, kettle, black. You have like, totally been one of those annoying kids, who like hold their phone up. It seems to me the person you're really mad at is you. You like let Interpol totally screw you over.

true about the depot's wings.

i was up in the balcony, and it was a they might be giants free show where Ken Garff gave away most of the tickets, so natural crowd dynamics were already disrupted.
