The Downward Spiral (The Bottom)
Awful. Simply awful. So bad it makes me question the viability of RPGs on contemporary consoles. Now that other genres have successfully co-opted the immersive storytelling, lush soundtracks, and addictive skill-point mechanic of RPGs, what left do they have to provide?
If Dragon Quest IX sucks, I may cry.

How long did you spend on the game? Because I hear it really comes together after about 40 hours ;)
Embarrassingly enough I made it to the final boss. I had to stop in disgust because he takes about a half hour to kill and has a move that can kill a member of you party randomly -- which is devastating because your lead character dying ends the game.
It never comes together. And it makes me never want to play a Final Fantasy game ever again.
You totally sound like me after I played five hours of FFVIII. (Snap!)
